I almost missed this but whilst browsing one of my favorite UK technology blogs this morning, Kublax is an online financial management tool that works with all the major UK banks and building societies. In February 2008 it secured a second round of undisclosed angel investment from Digitalents Capital, Five Ventures, Omnis Mundi Invest AG and The Accelerator Group (TAG).
Kublax allows you to take control of your finances in a simple and secure manner, with all your accounts in one place. You can track your spending, set budgets for different categories, compare your finances with others, get alerts on bills and reminders, and also benefit from the collective experiences of other Kublax members. Kublax makes managing your personal finances easier and more effective.
I always try to keep on top of my money but now than ever I need something that will help me save, I’m looking to buy a house over the next two years and with the current economic climate I can see mortgage deposits rising to the 20% of total property value.
I used to use Microsoft Money back in 1998 when I was still at college, not really understanding the importance of this type of software/service. Since Microsoft don’t sell Money in the UK and there isn’t a real alternative for people apart from good old Excel so this discovery couldn’t have come at a better time for me.
I’ve just signed up and things look great, it gives you good overviews of all your accounts and credit cards and lets you splice your outgoings into categories for easy management. Security is always an issue with these types of sites but they seem to have handled that making users anonymous and not actually storing any of your data and is purely a read only service.
Another great feature is the ability to be reminded of bill dates using SMS or email or comparing your spend to others in your geographical location (coming soon).
In my opinion well worth signing up for especially if you are having trouble keeping track of 2/3 online accounts.
