The economy won’t get better for a while despite what people or our politicians say. For all those readers who have an iPhone like me and are spending a substantial amount on line rental I thought we should make the device work for us. I’ve listed the 10 best FREE iPhone applications that can help you get through the current credit crunch.

Bloomberg

One of the most trusted sources of financial information this great iPhone application lets you bring financial news, quotes, company descriptions and market trends direct to your iPhone. This is one of the most downloaded iPhone applications in the finance category and it’s not hard to see why.

If you deal with money on a daily basis this little gem could save you vast sums of money by helping you make the right decisions regarding your investments.

PayPal

One of the world’s biggest online payment systems comes to the iPhone. This application lets you access your PayPal account to securely send and receive money. The application also helps you manage your finances by showing your transaction history.

I’ve used PayPal several times to quickly transfer money around the globe and its always helped me get out of tight situations, well worth installing if you need to move money around but don’t always have access to a computer. The  application also works perfectly with the eBay application so you can manage payments. eBay retailing really has gone mobile.

Currency Converter

If you fly internationally on a frequent basis this nifty application lets you view over 200 currencies and even special commodities like Gold and Silver if you are into that kind of thing. The major benefit of this application is that it automatically connects to the net and downloads exchange rate updates so you can be sure you are always getting the best price when changing money.

Now more than ever this kind of information is essential, even if you use it to see the real price you are paying for goods if you are away on holiday.

Balance

One of the most downloaded finance applications in the App Store and its not hard to see why, its a simple application that manages your current accounts by updating the value with user added withdraws or deposits. This is great if you don’t get regular access to a computer. I think it’ll be a wile before UK banks anyway will give iPhone users access to their accounts through the device. All accounts can be password protected for security and to stop people snooping.

This is one of the best ways in my opinion to beating the current market conditions and ensure you get to the other site untouched. Knowing what money you have or haven’t lets you control spend. I’ve been using the application for a couple of weeks now and its great.

iTip

Ever been in the situation where you have to tip and your not sure of the amount you should leave? This handy application lets you take the guess work out of the equation by doing all the maths for you based on the percentage you enter. Simple but effective.

Now more than ever its important that people hold onto their money, this application makes sure you don’t over pay but still give enough based on the service.

Expenses Lite

I’ve been in many situations where people have lent me money for a ticket/meal or I’ve has to pay for a group of people. Its always awkward to sit around talking about who owes what to each other, this cool application takes away all those pains and works out who owes what and to whom.  You can even exempt people from the cost to ensure a fair distribution.

Well worth downloading if you go out often with friends but like to ensure you get all your money back.

The above application are all free to download from iTunes. If you’ve got any others you think I should have included then please leave a comment.
