Google has made further changes to monetize its online properties by expanding its AdSense system into its Google Maps product. Looks like the change has only happened to US users so far but it won’t be long till its deployed to Europe if the trials go well.
The AdSense ads appear at the bottom of each map search in standard test format with clicks taking users out of the map and onto the advertiser website. Google uses geographic targeting to ensure people are seeing the right adverts based on their search. I don’t actually mind this kind of advertising as long as Google don’t force this adverts down out throats to improve repsonse.
God forbid if they ever started putting AdSense placements onto Google reader in a effort to make more money!
