Elgato the company behind some pretty fancy Freeview adapters for Apple macs are soon to be bringing the same technology to the Apple iPhone as well. Wondering how this would work? Well the technology would be based closely to the way that the Slingbox records live video from a video source and then streams it over the Internet. My guess is that it’ll only ever work over a WiFi connection but that’s not an issue with the amount that are popping up, especially here in London. eletricpig.co.uk a fast growing UK technology blog managed to get a quick work with the product marketing manger Lars Felber

“We could make a Freeview adapter for iPhone. One that draws power from the battery and has an aerial. But the phone would need to convert the MPEG stream. That’s a lot of work, so it’s far better to stream it.”

Sounds exciting to me, I just hope they get the quality and sound issues right before releasing it. Oh and what about the bandwidth limits consumers are constantly being reminded about? Surly streaming large amounts of video out of your house is going to slowly rack up the GB’s!
