My fiancee managed to pick up one of the first HTC Desire HD phones in the UK from Carphone Warehouse recently. She had been an iPhone user but wanted to change things up a bit. A play around with my Google Nexus One gave her the confidence to make the decision and call O2 for her pac code. Personally I’m a massive Android and HTC fan so when she got the phone home I was happy to see HTC have really delivered with this device. Not only does it look and feel great but I’ve NEVER used a phone that’s as quick when loading apps or responsive to touch gestures.
Anyway, move forward a couple of days. I’ve decided to get rid of my Nexus One and order a Desire HD on the Orange network. Yes it really is that good. It’s a new 20 month contract and I’ll be leaving a 30 day one but for some annoying reason O2 aren’t going to stock this phone….
I’ve taken a few pictures on the 8 megapixel camera of our cat which you can see below. Pretty good quality I think, the first picture shows a filter applied to the photo. Once I get the phone I’ll aim to write up a more detailed review including a demo of the 720p high definition video recorder.

I was on the lookout for a new phone and it was a choice between the Desire HD and Galaxy S. Somehow the Desire HD just seemed too big to feel like a “proper” phone and gone with the Galaxy S. Using Android on the Galaxy after the Tmobile Pulse is like living in a completely different planet – liking it so far.
I was worried about the size initially but after a couple of days it didn’t feel any bigger than my last iPhone or Nexus One.
I also hear that Samsung are making the next Google phone, the Nexus Two.
