For years now I’ve owned the domains to my name (nickflood.co.uk & nicholasflood.co.uk) but I’ve never done anything with them until now. I’m a massive LinkedIn user and almost always look up individuals before I meet them. LinkedIn profile pages do very well in search results, a search for “Nicholas Flood” returns my profile as the fourth result. What happens though when someone searches for “Nick Flood”? Whilst they may find my Twitter and Facebook page they won’t see my professional profile till page two and we know that nobody ventures there.
Using WordPress and the Thesis theme I use on this blog I built nickflood.co.uk in about 30 minutes. It really goes to show how easy digital publishing has become these days. Those 30 minutes included everything from setting up the site database to registering the site with Google Analytics.
Now if anyone searches for “Nick Flood” or “Nicholas Flood” my site will be at the top of both pages where individuals can easily navigate to all my social profiles or contact me directly.
